As requested, I am writing this report to assess the cooking course I recently attended in your Culinary school for beginners. The name of the course was Basics of Chinese cuisine. The group consisted of 10 students.

Achievements

My course included learning how to cook basic Chinese stews. During the course, I mastered all stages of the process of cooking. Firstly, I learnt about sharpening the cooking knife, preparing ingredients prior to cooking and using different cutting techniques. Secondly, learnt the technique of stir-frying along with how to choose a wok or a Chinese pan for cooking over a very high heat. Thirdly, I gained the knowledge of laying out the table and serving Chinese food. Also, I was acquainted with common Asian food ingredients.

Teaching

Our instructor Miss Teo was professional and helpful. After a lecture on the history of the dishes we were gradually introduced to the Chinese cooking style of stir-frying in a sequence of activities, which was extremely sensible. Also, I enjoyed cooking in a pair, it made the course extremely entertaining.

About improvements

There is one minor drawback I would like to mention, which is the lack of visual materials and any handouts during the course or afterwards. It would be beneficial for the students to have some images of the dishes and of the process of cooking.

Conclusion

After the course, I cooked the dishes at home and my family enjoyed the meal! Without any hesitation, I would recommend this to anyone interested in Chinese cooking.
